Veterans Point Trail
One of the most scenic lakes in the Black Hills is Pactola Reservoir. At the northeastern corner of the lake is Veterans Point, where a gentle and scenic trail has been developed for the public. This trail is .75-mile long and runs from the trailhead parking area to Veterans Point. The trail is paved and graded most of the way and includes a footbridge shortcut. Fishermen come here to fish off the pier that is located along the lower end of the trail. At the trails end is a lookout area where visitors enjoy watching eagles and osprey over the lake. A small restroom is located at the trailhead. There are no fees or permits needed to access this trail, though a fishing license is required for those who stop along the way to fish. Visitors will be treated to great scenery along this mostly-shady trail. A trail map is included in the photo collections below.
